Webinar: Upcoming PMBOK 8th Edition and Artificial Intelligence (AI) – A Comprehensive Introduction

In two articles written in early January, 2025, I’ve briefly outlined how Artificial Intelligence has been introduced into the new and upcoming PMBOK Guide, 8th edition. Currently, the PMBOK Guide, 8th Edition is in draft form and was made available for public comment in December, 2024.

Artificial Intelligence and its usage in project management are beginning to take shape. A number of small to large AI projects are being launched. It's not just by large organizations that will provide the AI “electricity” for everyone, similar to cloud computing.

Rather, as I’ve observed and experienced with various AI tools, mostly large language models (LLMs), AI will also be powered by smaller companies that have their own AI “electricity supply.” I’ve noted it in another recent article on the upcoming PMBOK guide, 8th edition and AI

In AI projects, project managers will play an important role. Many areas of project management such as schedule management, cost management, risk management, and resource management etc. can benefit from the support of AI.

The Project Management Body of Knowledge or the PMBOK Guide from the Project Management Institute is one of most widely used guides for project management. If you are a PMP, an aspiring PMP or a project management practitioner, this upcoming event on April 30, 2025, is a must-attend.

In the PMBOK Guide, you not only have Artificial Intelligence as a specific tool and technique (AI) but also related ones.

In my upcoming webinar, we are going to cover many aspects of PMBOK and will see the entry of AI into the guide. It’ll be a comprehensive introduction. This will be conducted by Master Projects for Unlimited Growth (MPUG)

Join us in this webinar to know more on PMBOK Guide, 8th edition and its integration with AI related content.

Webinar Series: Scrum at Scale with Hands-on Practical Applicability

In a recent article for Scrum at Scale – CIPSA Key Roles and Goals, I wrote about the power of simplicity. I also said simple is beautiful and simplicity sticks. It's applicable in all walks of our lives. You can read it here.

Simple people are liked more, trusted more. Simple things are easily remembered and hence followed. Simple, elegant dresses are natural and indeed, beautiful. Simple manners, for example just a simple and genuine 'thank you' goes a long way many times with the right people in the right environment.

In any human endeavor, simplicity is a powerful tool. A simple message is more effective and efficient than a long, complicated message. A simple person or organization is easier to work with than a complicated one. However, to make things simple is not that simple. In fact, it' very hard, long-drawn and has to be cultivated.

The Certified In Practical Scaled Agile (CIPSA) framework strives to be simple. I believe it's the simplest possible framework for Agile at Scale in the world. In addition, it's the only practical Scaled Agile framework in the world.

As shown above, the CIPSA Scrum Framework extends team-level Scrum in a minimal possible way. There are no layers and layers of backlogs, layers and layers of roles and events. If you read the CIPSA Guide – free to download and use, you’d immediately notice these:

  • The roles are just two.
  • The goals are just two.
  • The events are just a few.
  • The artifacts are just three.

Considering multiple Individual Scrum Teams and agile at scale, it’s a simple, yet powerful framework. If you know the Scrum approach, you’ll understand quickly understand the CIPSA Scrum Framework. In addition, the CIPSA framework can use any software tool, including MS Project Agile.

In my upcoming webinar series conducted by Master Projects for Unlimited Growth (MPUG), you’ll learn about scaling, aspects of scaling, other scaling frameworks, the CIPSA Framework (specifically the CIPSA Scrum Framework), various parts of the framework and more. In the final part, we will also see practical, hands-on demonstrations.

Join me in these three-part webinar series to know more on Scrum at Scale using the CIPSA Framework. The links are noted below. Registration is closed.

Below are the event details.

Part - 1: Understanding Scaling with Scrum

Part - 2: Scrum at Scale with the CIPSA Framework

Part - 3: Scrum at Scale with CIPSA and MS Project Agile

Note: You need not have in-depth knowledge of Scrum to understand Scrum at Scale with CIPSA. Also, if you don’t know anything at all about Scrum, you can join, too. We will have a brief discussion on Scrum.

If you have missed Part 1 of the series, a summary is here.

The contents of this webinar series are taken from Certified In Practical Scaled Agile (CIPSA) course . This is the only practical, hands-on, scaled-agile certification course in the world.

Upcoming Webinar: 5 Must-Dos (Knows) To Be A PMI Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)

In a recent article on benefits of Portfolio Management Professional Certification (PfMP), I outlined top reasons of having this certification. At a high-level, they are:

  1. PfMP certification is the highest-level credential offered by PMI. It shines in your resume.
  2. With Portfolio Management, you are directly responsible for achieving your organization's strategic business objectives.
  3. Project and Program Management are about “doing the work right”, whereas Portfolio Management is about “doing the right work”.
  4. The PfMP credential is considered to be an elite certification by top professionals.
  5. With the right book and/or course, you will know hands-on portfolio management in the real-world.
  6. Without strategic execution, organizations just fire and forget. PfMP ensures that you fire the bullets and ensure that the bullets meet the target.
  7. You need not be a PMP or PgMP to be a PfMP. But if you are a PfMP, you will know PMP and PgMP content to an extent.
  8. You will know governance at the highest level. There is a dedicated knowledge area: Portfolio Governance Management.
  9. If you are a PMP, RMP and/or ACP, then your understanding of Risk Management will be very helpful for Portfolio Risk Management.
In another recent article, I wrote doing only project or program management, but avoiding or not knowing portfolio management is like putting the cart before the horse!

Can you move your wagon properly with that approach?

Of course, you can’t! An organization is also similar. Without knowing the vision, mission, goals and strategic objectives of an organization and doing random projects and programs doesn’t take the organization forward.

However, to be a PfMP certified professional, it’s easier said than done. You not only need to have real-world portfolio management experience, you need to have a strategic mindset. As a matter of fact, there is a dedicated knowledge area named Portfolio Strategic Management.

The below PMI fact file gives the following numbers on various certifications.

As you can see, while PMP, ACP, RMP, PgMP and PBA are in large numbers, PfMP is not much because many organizations don’t know how to pursue strategic management and get value out of it.  Also, the number tells PfMP is truly an elite certification.

At this stage I must say that the PfMP certification is achievable. You too can do it! As noted earlier in one of the top reasons, with PfMP certification you are going to operate at the highest level of the organization pursuing strategic management.

In my upcoming webinar conducted by Microsoft Project User Group (MPUG), we will discuss the followings:

  • Why should you pursue PfMP?
  • What’s the value of PfMP as you grow in your career?
  • PfMP Exam Domains
  • PfMP Exam Content Outline (ECO)
  • Five Must-Dos (Knows) to be a PMI-PfMP

On the first four items, we will have a brief discussion. On the final point of Five Must-Dos to be a PfMP, we will have a detailed discussion.
